The Proof Series #4: Marquee Clients

This product marketing strategy works which is why you see consultants listing all of the well known companies that they have worked for. After all, you are guilty by association…

So this is Rich Schefren’s take on how you can use the ‘Marquee Clients’ proof technique

What It Is: Rich became “The Guru to The Gurus” because  he has coached many of today’s top Internet marketers.  So it’s not surprising, that he’s brought in an incredible number of clients because of it.

Think about it:  You’re on Guru X’s list – you’re impressed with his success and his knowledge.  Then you find out he had a coach when he first started out – one that helped him get incredible results.

Wouldn’t you immediately seek that very same coach out?  Of course you would.

Why It’s Powerful: With the right marquee clients, prospects naturally assume if it’s good enough for them… it’s good enough for me.  Especially when the prospect aspires to get the same results of those marquee clients.

You probably heard that old saying “No one ever got fired for buying IBM” – just take that sentence to it’s natural conclusion and you’ve got the point.

Example: Rich quotes some big name clients that everyone instantly recognizes in his marketing. These are some of the companies he has worked for or taught…  Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Agora, Motley Fool, The Street, etc…

Pretty impressive !

He stresses his corporate clients and not his ‘guru’ clients for a good reason… because they appealed to his target market.

Many of the gurus he has coached are now seen as THE COMMON ENEMY – some rightfully so.  So he’s distanced himself  from them on purpose preferring to create a new set of tomorrow’s biggest gurus (who are ethical and honest) in his current programs.  For example Alex Jeffreys, and many more.

Remember, I said that you are ‘guilty association’ at the top of this piece.

Well… If you haven’t got any marquee clients of your own then notice how Andy jenkins used Amazon’s use of video marketing to sell their best selling product – The Kindle – in his Video Boss launch. If video marketing is good enough for Amazon, it must be good enough for you. Right?

Quoting ‘Marquee Clients’ in your product marketing strategy is a powerful way of adding another layer of proof  to your new product launch.
