Jeff Walker has just gone into the pre-launch phase of Product Launch Formula 3.0. The opening video or what he calls the ‘shot across the bows’ is all about guru launches and how these guys are making millions of dollars in just a few hours and then benefiting from what Jeff refers to as the ‘Launch Echo’.
Now I take issue with Jeff on the assertion that these so-called gurus make so much in such a short time despite the fact that these millions do arrive in their merchant accounts in just a few short hours. You have to understand that these guys are seen as an ‘authority’ in their markets.
There is no way that you too will draw in even a modest amount without doing the spade work which I laid out in my post “New Product Launch: The Value Staircase, Proof and Credibility”
However the product launch ‘echo’ is very real and applies to us mortals too. All you have to do is follow the well tried and tested sequence that Jeff teaches in PLF to reap the following
– List building on steroids
– Warm and engaged prospects
– Raving fans prepared to give Video Testimonials
– A wealth of Case Studies,
– More visibility in your niche
– Boost to your authority and credibility
– JV and affiliate attraction
– Fully optimized product and offer
Just remember that if you go to a full external launch, you will probably only make 35% on the gross revenue so don’t be in a rush. You need to know that you have fully optimized all your other processes and first built up your credibility with your back-room services [not to mention your affiliates] such as your merchant account and payment gateway.
Skipping this step is a quick way of creating a mess. Getting your account frozen is no joke especially when you have affiliates, a fulfillment house, staff and others to pay immediately. You will develop a serious cash flow problem in next to no time and have lots of questions to answer about where the money came from in the first place.
Your bank manager knows nothing about online product launches and the big pay days they generate. You have to go through a process of education and confidence building with him or her just like you have to with your JV partners.
So, focus on the ‘launch echo’ and don’t run before you can walk.
Slow and steady is a policy that I have no hesitation in recommending to my clients. After all, you only have one chance to show you have got things right when you launch your product in the full public spotlight like the gurus do.
Make sure that when you do, your product launch is an inter-continental ballistic missile and not just a ‘bottle rocket’
