As a bootstrapped start up approaching your first product launch with no brand recognition whatsoever what is the first order of business when it comes to developing a marketing strategy?
Straight out of the gate there are 6 things that you can do
- Buy your own keyword optimized URL
- Set up a Word Press blog using – It’s Free
- Set up a business page on Facebook
- Set up a Twitter account
- Join some niche specific forum
- Set up a LinkedIn account and join industry specific groups
Note that completing these 6 steps can be achieved for as little as $10 even if you are not technically minded
The next step is to post one article every day focusing on your main keyword.
Make sure that you integrate your blog with your Facebook page, your Twitter account and your LinkedIn.com profile so your posts automatically appear in the other places. That way you are leveraging your time to the maximum.
Next, use Facebook to create highly targeted Ads to drive traffic at your business page. You can geo target to a radius of 50 miles from your front door if you are a local business. Avoid Google like the plague for the moment. It is a much more difficult game to play.
Now you have the basics in hand, it’s time to turn your attention back to your product launch and the marketing strategy you plan to follow. Remember that if you want to build brand recognition and become the recognized authority in your market segment, plan on doing a sequence of product launches. Each one building on the the last and each one becoming more and more focused and effective.
There’s no point in just planning to do one product launch. The more you do the better
