Amazon’s new product launch, a new tablet called the Kindle Fire, has certainly set tongues wagging. The almighty Ipad may at last have a competitor worthy of the name. People say that the price at around $200 almost guarantees that it will go mainstream. It may do but it won’t be because of the price…

 

My take on this is different… Jeff Bezos will will make his money on the back end because Amazon has access to tons and tons of content and it’s this that will make the new arrival go mainstream.

 

They can sell books, magazines, music, films and games – this business model is a powerful cash flow generator – and so compete with Apple head-to-head where it matters. Ever heard the expression ‘ Content is King”?


They guys in Cupertino will not be losing any sleep, just yet though. In fact they may be rubbing their hands with eager anticipation because Amazon will grow the size of the market giving Apple a far bigger pool of prospects to sell their digital wonders to. That being said, they will take the new arrival seriously, very seriously…

 

That’s all fascinating stuff, I’m sure you will agree but what impact will it have on your small business?
